ABOUT ALLISTON CARE

Support built around people, not labels

At Alliston Care, we believe everyone deserves to be heard, respected and supported as an individual.

We provide compassionate, person-centred services for people experiencing mental health challenges, homelessness and difficulties with their health and wellbeing. Our approach is trauma-informed, recovery-focused, peer-supported and shaped by the lived experiences of the people we work alongside.

about us

OUR APPROACH

Meeting people where they are

Life does not always follow a straightforward path. People come to Alliston Care with different experiences, circumstances, challenges and hopes for the future.

That’s why we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We work at the individual’s pace, treating people with respect and helping them explore opportunities for positive change. Our aim is to create an environment where people feel safe, listened to and able to take an active role in their own recovery.

Trauma informed

Trauma-Informed

We recognise the profound impact that trauma and adversity can have on people’s lives.

Rather than simply asking what someone is experiencing, we seek to understand what has happened to them and what support they feel they need. This understanding helps us provide care that is compassionate, sensitive and respectful.

recovery focused

Recovery-Focused

Recovery means something different to everyone.

We work collaboratively with individuals to help them build resilience, recognise triggers, strengthen relationships and regain a greater sense of safety, confidence and control over their lives.

peer supported

Peer-Supported

Lived experience can create a powerful connection.

Peer support has been at the heart of Alliston Care’s work since 2009, with members of our team able to draw upon their own experiences of mental health challenges to offer empathy, encouragement and hope to others.

Co-Produced

The people using our services should have a voice in shaping them.

We work alongside current and former service users, valuing their experiences and ideas to help us develop services that are inclusive, collaborative and genuinely responsive to people’s needs.

LIVED EXPERIENCE

Listening to the people who know best

Some of the most valuable insights into mental health, recovery and adversity come from people who have experienced those challenges themselves.

We encourage the people we support to share the strategies, experiences and ideas that have helped them navigate difficult periods in their lives.

Those voices help shape our services and allow valuable experiences to be shared with a wider community. Alliston Care also captures client stories and examples of best practice to demonstrate the impact that meaningful, person-centred support can have.
